What each GTA 6 trailer actually confirmed

Separating what Rockstar showed from what the community inferred — and what each reveal implies for PC hardware.

Trailer 1 — the Vice City reveal (December 2023)

Ninety-one seconds that confirmed three things fans had argued about for a decade: the game returns to Vice City, it stars a dual protagonist pair in Jason and Lucia, and the state of Leonida extends well past the city into swampland, keys and small inland towns. The trailer leaned heavily on social-media-styled clips and crowd density, which is the clearest early signal of how CPU-heavy the simulation will be.

  • Leonida confirmed as a full state, not a single city
  • Dual protagonists, Bonnie-and-Clyde framing
  • Crowd and traffic density well beyond GTA V

Trailer 2 — character and world tech (May 2025)

Three minutes and twenty-two seconds with a far heavier emphasis on facial animation, cloth and lighting than on action. Rockstar spent the runtime on interiors, wet surfaces, and long unbroken shots across neighbourhoods — the kind of footage that suggests aggressive streaming and a large texture budget. This is the trailer that pushed most PC players to start checking VRAM.

  • Interior detail and dynamic lighting across day and night
  • Extensive coastline, Everglades and district variety
  • Character tech showcase over action set-pieces

GTA 6 trailer questions

Release dates, authenticity, and what comes next.

  • How many GTA 6 trailers has Rockstar released?

Two official trailers so far. Trailer 1 arrived on December 5, 2023 and Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. Anything else circulating — gameplay montages, 'leaked footage', extended cuts — is either fan-made or reposted leak material, not an official Rockstar release.

  • When did the first GTA 6 trailer come out?

December 5, 2023, posted a day earlier than scheduled after it leaked. It became the fastest video in YouTube history to reach 100 million views, hitting that mark in under a day.

  • Is the GTA 6 trailer footage actual gameplay?

Rockstar labelled both trailers as captured in-engine rather than as pure gameplay. Historically their in-engine trailers have tracked very close to the shipped product — RDR2's reveal footage held up on release — but camera work in a trailer is not what you see behind a controller.

  • Will there be a GTA 6 Trailer 3?

Almost certainly. Rockstar's pattern for both GTA V and RDR2 was a final trailer roughly four to eight weeks before launch, usually paired with a gameplay-focused video. This page updates the moment anything lands on the Newswire.

  • What can the trailers tell us about PC requirements?

Quite a lot indirectly. Crowd density and traffic simulation point to CPU load, while texture detail, interior streaming and wet-surface reflections point to VRAM and GPU load. Our system requirements and VRAM tools use exactly these signals, cross-checked against RDR2 on the same engine.
