They are projections, not measurements. Our model is calibrated against RDR2 and GTA V PC, which run the same RAGE engine, and cross-checked against published third-party benchmark suites. Historically that approach lands within roughly 15% of shipped performance for the same tier of hardware — good enough for upgrade decisions, not good enough to argue over five frames.
Because a number without its assumptions is not useful. If you know that the FPS model assumes High settings at Quality upscaling, you can adjust for your own preferences. If you do not, you either over-trust the output or ignore it entirely.
