- Performance weight (0.55) reflects that framerate dwarfs every other launch complaint in the RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077 post-launch subreddit analyses.
- VRAM (0.20) is separated from performance because VRAM shortage causes stutter that raw avg-FPS numbers hide — it deserves its own signal.
- Storage (0.15) applies an HDD multiplier of 0.35: mechanical drives cause open-world streaming stalls independent of free space.
- Network (0.10) is the smallest weight because it only affects launch-week experience — but a stalled pre-load ruins launch night for a full-marks build.
- Grade thresholds (S 92 / A 82 / B 70 / C 55 / D 40) were tuned so a mainstream 2024 mid-range build (RTX 3060 + Ryzen 5) with 16 GB RAM, an SSD and 100 Mbps lands in B — the intended baseline for a smooth launch.

GPU, CPU, RAM, free storage, drive type and download speed. The performance sub-score reuses the same engine as the FPS calculator — RTX 4090 = 100, 14900K / 7800X3D = 100 — and full storage marks need 100 GB free on an SSD at 111 Mbps or better.

The weighted total maps to a letter grade. Verdict copy is deterministic per band, so the same rig always lands the same grade and two rigs one point apart never get contradictory advice.

The lowest sub-score is named explicitly and linked to the calculator that diagnoses it — bottleneck, VRAM, storage planner or download time. Upgrading a strong sub-score barely moves the grade.

How do I know if my PC can run GTA 6?
Enter your GPU, CPU, RAM, free storage, drive type and internet speed. This tool composes the outputs of the FPS, VRAM, storage and download-time calculators into a single weighted 0–100 score with a letter grade. Anything B (70+) is a smooth launch; below D (40) means at least one component blocks a good experience.
What score do I need for GTA 6 on launch day?
70 (B grade) is the practical floor for a comfortable launch — 60 fps at 1080p High, VRAM clears, 100 GB free on an SSD, and enough bandwidth to finish pre-load in a couple of hours. 82 (A) means you can push settings up on day one; 92+ (S) is flagship territory with 4K + RT in scope.
Do I need 32 GB of RAM for GTA 6?
No — 16 GB clears this tool's baseline. Doubling to 32 GB only pays off if you multitask (Discord, browser, streaming) or if you plan to mod. Below 16 GB the FPS engine applies an 18% average and 40% 1% low penalty, so 8 GB builds tank the performance sub-score even with a strong GPU.
Is 500 GB enough for GTA 6?
Yes, if 100+ GB of that is free. GTA 6's install is estimated at ~100 GB before day-one patches. On a 500 GB SSD with Windows and a couple of other games installed, expect this to be tight — plan for at least 150 GB of headroom on launch week.
How fast should my internet be for GTA 6 pre-load?

Can my laptop run GTA 6?
Mid-range gaming laptops (RTX 3060 mobile / RTX 4050+) with 16 GB RAM and an NVMe SSD typically land in B–C territory at 1080p Medium/High. Ultra-thin laptops with iGPU or MX-class GPUs fail the performance sub-score outright — no readiness score will save an under-spec dGPU.
What happens on launch day if I'm below the minimum?
The game will still install and boot on hardware below Rockstar's floor, but performance is unpredictable — expect sub-30 fps averages, low-1% stutter and VRAM texture pop-in. This tool's F grade means you should treat pre-order as a placeholder and either upgrade the weakest link or wait for optimisation patches.
Does the readiness score change with ray tracing?
This tool uses ray tracing off as its reference. Enabling RT at launch will roughly halve the FPS sub-score on the same hardware — check the FPS calculator directly with your target preset to see the RT-on delta. VRAM headroom also shrinks by 1–2 GB with RT on.
Sub-score weightings behind the grade
Four sub-scores are computed on a 0–100 scale and weighted. Performance uses the FPS engine at a reference 1080p High native target (60 fps = 100). VRAM compares card VRAM to the estimated 1080p High need with a 15% headroom bonus. Storage is (free GB / 100) × drive-type multiplier (NVMe 1.0, SATA 0.9, HDD 0.35). Network is (Mbps / 111) capped at 100.

- Readiness score
- A single 0–100 number that combines performance, VRAM headroom, storage and internet into one weighted rating.
- Weakest link
- The lowest of your four sub-scores. Fixing it is always the highest-ROI upgrade because it's the one dragging your grade down.
- Grade curve
- S 92+, A 82, B 70, C 55, D 40, F <40. B or better means a smooth launch; D or worse means at least one component blocks a good experience.
- Pre-load
- The window before launch when Rockstar opens the download so the game is ready to play at 00:00 launch. Your network sub-score decides whether you finish in time.
